Though it'd be a good idea to start a new thread where folk can leave feedback on the previous game.
So, Sunday 19th, game with 12 players including 2 newbies.
It's the first time in a while i've felt quite nervous playing down at SLT, as having the 2 new, (and very good) players kinda made it feel a tiny bit more like gutshot.
Adding to that the multiply table scenario and it all made for an excellent nights poker!
I enjoyed the random sitting positions element of the night as it did seem to mix up the play a bit more than usual.
Also, it was interesting to note that having a dealer on one of the tables seemed to speed up the proceedings quite considerably!
Although we were trying to speed things along a bit, I think it'd be a good idea for everyone to change up their chips once the wee ones become obsolite. I think overall, it'd speed up the subsequent rounds by having less chips to handle.
Thanks to all involved in setting this up, I know we did go on a wee bit later than usual.
Be nice to find out what Andy & Nate (if that right?) though of it. They both look like serious poker players. _________________ "Look into my eyes, look into my eyes..." |

I'm glad to see that you have raised two of my bugbears. Random seating and cashing up chips. I don't understand why people spend ages putting in 200 in 10s and 20s at the later stage of the game when they have 100 chips in front of them.
As for dealing, it is nice and quicker when there is a dealer, but overall the process of self-dealing can also be quick. Taking a long time to deal holds up the game and means fewer hands overall for everyone.
I was hoping to play this Sunday but guess not if it's teeheehee. Maybe Sunday week (althgouh I'm not sure yet).
Would have loved to have been there for the multi-table 12 player game though - how and when did you decide to move players? And did you play for cash on Sunday? |

We balanced the tables by moving the furthest person from the button to their equivalent position on the other table when people went out until there were 8 left and then randomly drew for new positions on the final table.
As it turned out the traffic all went one way as far as people were concerned. All four of the people went out from one table and people were moved over from the other which meant their were a lot more chips over there. This may have been because Matt dealt for us after going out first and we got through a lot more hands. The play was faster too with more concentrating on the game and less chat.
The final table was interesting, with Chris VS on the brink of elimination going all in with Q8o, being called by my A10s and flopping a set of eights. Another double up came soon after and he went quickly into a chip lead which proved unassailable.
Was definately a very competitive and enjoyable game much added to by the two new players and the multi-table element.
I agree with colouring up but think we should break to do so rather than doing it during the game. I find it very distracting to see chips passing around the table which are not part of the hand and definately don't like it when people try to colour up my chips when I'm playing. Perhaps we need to have a set break when we hit a certain level and know that the small chips are no longer needed and do it during the break.
Looks like no game this week due to comedy but should be back the week after. Not for me though as I am rehearsing Blue/Orange on Sunday evenings now.
