I was playing at Gutshot yesterday in the #20 afternoon freezeout.
Had been playing for about three hours and had had some ups and downs but in the last hour had not had much in the way of playable cards and was getting blinded away. I pick up pocket jacks UTG and decide this is the time to push and hope to double up. I've still got enough chips to make people think and would also be quite happy to have everyone fold and pick up the blinds.
A few seats to my left a player is chatting to a friend who has gone out from another table and is not paying attention. The two players to my left fold and it gets round to the player who is chatting. He is told that it is his turn and he turns back, says 'I call' and puts enough chips in to cover the big blind. He has not noticed that I was all in. When he is informed of the situation he wants to take his bet back. He was only calling the big blind. I would be quite happy to let him correct his mistake but a passing floorman sees the event and says that his verbal bet must stand. He said call so he must call. Reluctantly he puts in enough chips to cover me (leaving him with very few left) and shows king ten.
Needless to say he spikes a king and I'm on my way home. Beaten by a player who didn't mean to play the hand.
Ho hum. |

That's unfortunate to say the least.. I've accidentally won a few pots online like that, i think the last time I hit the raise button with 9-7 and managed to flop a straight .. ! |
