Hi all
As most of you are aware the draw for the Heads Up tourney took place last night and the structure is as follows.
Each match will be best of three games and each game uses 1000 chips with blinds at 10 minutes with a structure as on the sheet.
There are no re-buys. Players cut for deal. The dealer is the small blind and acts first before the flop and last after. Blinds are frozen at the last level.
It is recommended, but not obligatory, that you try to arrange a dealer for your matches.
Games must be organised between the players and reported back to me via this board. All first round matches must be completed by Sunday 14th May.
Please can you get your £5 entry fees to me before this date also (preferably before your first game).
Post any queries here and have fun!

Forgot to mention. The chips are in the back room of the bar in the big metal cabinet. Please return them there after use.

Hurley 2 - Marsh 1
Some comments:
1 - it took two and a half hours. we started at eight. first game alone took an hour and a quarter.
2 - having a dealer really helped. mark davies is very good, i can recommend him.
3 - blinds. we played 10/20, 15/30, 20/40, 25/50, 50/100, 75/150, 100/200, 150/300 for the first game but agreed to drop the 20/40 level for the subsequent games and this made it quicker (and better we agreed).
any one else got their match organised? i am happy to deal if free. |

Game 1 was just over an hour long, Game 2 about 10 minutes and Game 3 about 45. From this it seems that 2 to 2 and a half hours (in this case) gave a decent range of play - swings in chip stacks, form, and luck.
Dealer might be almost essential, especially for those who are unsure of how heads-up matches should be played. It speeds things up a little and also keeps an eye on the button - crucial when the blinds are high.
i also agree the 20/40 level can be removed as there are still 3 other small levels.
the back room in the bar is a good place to play, away from the distractions of the bar itself. |

The chart has been updated with the results of yesterday's game between myself and Jenny.
It finished 2-0 to me but the game was much closer than this result might suggest. Each game lasted an hour and I was down to very few chips in the second game and had to risk some quite desperate all in plays to double up and get out of trouble, any of which could have seen the result going the other way.
I tend to agree with the other's comments having played this first game.
A dealer is pretty essential. Any volunteers for Helen and Bob on Wednesday?
The blind levels which Paul and Lisa ended up with make for a good game and I have removed the old suggestion from the chart.
It was great fun and quite tense. Very much looking forward to my next game.
Any more games organised? One week to go.
Anyone heard anything from Jason?
